2012 sponsors meet at Number 10
The inaugural meeting of 'The Chairman's Club' - a collective made up from the top level
sponsors
of the Olympic and Paralympic Games - was hosted at 10 Downing Street by the Prime Minister
Gordon Brown in December 2008. Discussion focused on how the partners will be making the most of
their sponsorship programmes in light of the current economic climate, the significance of talent
within global businesses and how they can leverage their partnerships to ensure the Games can
create a business legacy after 2012.

HSBC has no plans to relocate London HQ
HSBC, Europe's biggest bank by market value, has decided against relocating its headquarters
in a move which will be seen as a boost to the City of London. The Sunday Telegraph reported that
HSBC had concluded a review which it conducts about once every three years by deciding that London
continues to be the most appropriate location for its headquarters.

Measures unveiled to
support London's small businesses
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has announced a range of measures to help support small
businesses in the capital through the current economic downturn. Speaking at the London Development
Agency's (LDA) annual public meeting the Mayor welcomed the LDA's planned £23 million package of
public sector support, which has been made available for small to medium sized businesses in the
capital from December 2008.

US
tycoon plans to turn City landmark into hotel
An
American property magnate has unveiled plans to transform one of the City's best known office
buildings into a "six-star" hotel. Chris Rouse, Director of CB Richard Ellis Hotels, said: "The
increase in applications for change of use from offices to hotels is a product of the general
'softening' in the office development market. But it also reflects a sense of optimism for hotel
development that has been engendered by the
2012 Olympics."
London theatre
Box Office hits new record
London theatres had a record-breaking year in 2008, with attendance for the year totaling
13,807,286. The figures are particularly impressive given both the financial crisis and the fact
that 2007 totals already had leaped an unprecedented 10% to a peak many commentators had considered
unbeatable.
